Normal CA is about as much a melting pot as you can get. Privileged students and techy nerds intermingle with the scientific cogniscenti. Survivalists and new-age hippies live off the land. As for those insane peeps... hey, aren't we all?

The University of Normal Tech and Neuroscience is a small privately-run college situated on a bucolic slope a mile and a half from Normal's downtown district. Six hundred students study mostly technology and neuroscience in a highly competitive environment. The Department of Neuroscience is considered one of the top in the country,and the Department of Technology has a world-wide reputation for innovation.
View Institute Folks
The Waiklund Institute has been on a site just outside Normal city limits for 20 years. Affectionately known by the locals as "Wako", it houses 424 individuals deemed criminally insane. Patients include those who can no longer be controlled, or are an immediate threat to others. The Institute works in partnership with UNTN's neuroscience department in the hopes of salvaging these lost souls. The institute has approximately 95 staff and has several layers of state-of-the-art security.

Last count there were 37 start-ups in Normal. They flock to the area due to the university, the low cost or living, and the outdoor activities. The annual HUMAN Project, a prestigious 4-day global event that draws the greatest minds in digital technology was started in Normal, and an anonymous venture capitalist donated $15 million dollars with the purpose of documenting Normal's contributions to the world. The result, the Normal Historical Museum is currently in development.
